According to Minnesota Twins beat writer Mike Berardino on Twitter, half a dozen teams are interested in the services of RHP Fernando Salas.
Salas, 32 in May, was acquired by the Mets from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for minor leaguer Erik Manoah this past August.
In 17 games for the Mets, Salas pitched to a 0-1 record, with a 2.08 ERA and 3.20 FIP.
For Salas’ seven year big league career, the pitcher owns a 19-22 record, with a 3.64 ERA, 8.9 K/9 and a 3.53 FIP.
Salas was one of the most reliable relievers out of the bullpen for the Mets the last month of the season, so one has to imagine that one of the teams interested in Salas is the Mets.
At this point in the offseason, the Mets should definitely take a flyer on Salas on a one-year pact, especially if he falls into their laps.
