LHP Matt Moore tossed eight scoreless innings and Buster Posey had three hits and three RBIs as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1 on Sunday to complete a three game sweep and clinch the second NL Wild Card.
The stage is now set for the NL Wild Card Game as the New York Mets will host the San Francisco Giants at Citi Field on Wednesday, October 5.
Noah Syndergaard (14-9, 2.60) will oppose Madison Bumgarner (15-9, 2.74) in a in a winner take all matchup of dueling aces.
The Mets won the season series against the Giants 4-3, but as the Chicago Cubs showed us last year, that means nothing in the postseason.
Noah Syndergaard is 2-1 with a 3.31 ERA in postseason play while Madison Bumgarner is 5-1 with a 0.99 ERA in his last seven post season appearances.
