The Mets (11-7) defeated the Cincinnati Reds (9-11) tonight at Citi Field by a score of 5-3, earning their ninth win in the last eleven games.
Pitching:
Noah Syndergaard got the start for the Amazin’s tonight, and was the victim of a few early infield hits, which yielded a run in the third inning, as Billy Hamilton dropped down a bunt, stole second and third, and promptly scored on a sacrifice fly to knot up the game.
Syndergaard wasn’t at his very best tonight, as he surrendered seven hits and three runs over 6.2 innings, but was able to limit the damage when he did get in trouble, and still managed to strike out nine batters.
Syndergaard left with the lead in the seventh but a runner on second, and Antonio Bastardo allowed the run to score as the lefty had a rough outing, forcing Syndergaard to settle with a no decision.
Logan Verrett came on with the game tied and runners at the corners, and recorded a king sized out to end the seventh to put out the fire.
Addison Reed pitched a clean eighth, before handing the ball over to Jeurys Familia, who closed out the game for the Mets, earning his sixth save of the year.

Offense:
After Reds’ starter Raisel Iglesias struck out the first two Mets to face him, Michael Conforto launched a bomb to center to give the Mets another first inning lead.
Conforto had a big night at the plate, as the young left fielder went 3-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored.
In the third inning, Lucas Duda hit a towering shot to right field to put the Mets back on top, 3-1 at the time.
After the Reds tied the game in the seventh, the Mets got the lead right back as Neil Walker joined the home run parade, hitting a two run shot to right center, his eighth of the year.
This would give the Mets the lead for good, as they were able to close out the game and seal the win.
On Deck:
The Mets will look for the series victory tomorrow, as Bartolo Colon (1-1, 2.89 ERA) takes the mound for the Mets, and is opposed by Brandon Finnegan (1-1, 3.74). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM.
