Update: Matt Harvey showed up to Citi Field and apologized for missing mandatory workout. “I just truly screwed up,” he told reporters, but did not state a specific reason or take questions.
“Obviously today was not the greatest,” Harvey said. “I know we had a mandatory workout and certainly the last thing I want to do is not be here with my team. Basically, there’s no excuse. I screwed up. I wasn’t here.” (NJ.com)
However, Terry Collins said Harvey called him and said he was stuck in traffic. At that point, Collins told Harvey to just forget about it and that he’d see him Wednesday.
“I’m concerned about the guys who are here and had a great workout,” said David Wright when asked to respond.
“It’s about the guys that are here, we’re clicking, we had guys that came in today, took care of business and did what they need to do to prepare for Friday and I’m happy with that. You can only worry about what you can control and we had everybody else here and I thought it went great.”
Collins said he will fine Harvey at least $500 for his misstep.

Sandy Alderson was none to pleased after learning that Matt Harvey was a no-show on Tuesday during an official team workout at Citi Field.
Alderson said he did not know why Harvey wasn’t at the workouts and preferred not to comment further until he speaks to Harvey.
Initially, a team spokesman told reporters that the workouts were voluntary, but Alderson adamantly disagreed.
“As far as I’m concerned, today’s workout was mandatory,” said Alderson a short while ago at Citi Field.
