Mets right-handed reliever Erik Goeddel, who has been nursing a right elbow strain that landed him on the DL, continues to make progress and is nearing a return.
Goeddel played in his second rehab game on Thursday, tossing one inning for High-A St. Lucie and allowing a run and walking two batters.
Expected to be activated next week, Goedell received platelet-rich plasma therapy and has been resting his elbow ever since per doctor’s orders. (ESPN New York)
“I did the Tommy John rehab, basically, just because that’s the most severe injury — an accelerated version of that,” said Goeddel. “It kept getting better. I guess it doesn’t really matter what it was, as long as it’s good now.”
Goeddel, 26, has a 1.96 ERA over 23 innings with the Mets. In that span, he has struck out 23 batters and walked just seven.
