After losing the first two games in their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets will try to get back on a winning note tonight at Citi Field.

Matt Harvey (8-7, 3.19 ERA) takes the mound for the Mets and will be opposed by rookie Zach Lee (0-0, 0.00) for the Dodgers in the 7:10 matchup.

Originally slated to start on Friday, Zack Greinke is now expected to return from paternity leave and face the Mets on Sunday.

Newly acquired Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson are due to join the Mets for Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field.

The Mets acquired Uribe and Johnson from the Atlanta Braves on Friday in a swap for minor league right-handers John Gant and Rob Whalen. The Mets also received cash from Atlanta to cover a portion of the $3.15 million remaining on the contracts.

Uribe, 36, is hitting .272 (63-232) with 23 runs scored, eight doubles, eight home runs, 23 RBI and a .331 on-base percentage in 75 games this season. He will wear #2.

Johnson is hitting .275 (50-182) with 20 runs scored, five doubles, nine home runs, 34 RBI and a .321 on-base percentage in 62 games this season with Atlanta. He will wear #55.

Mets Starting Lineup

  1. Curtis Granderson – RF
  2. Ruben Tejada – SS
  3. Daniel Murphy – 3B
  4. Kelly Johnson – 2B
  5. Lucas Duda – 1B
  6. Michael Conforto – LF
  7. Kirk Nieuwenhuis – CF
  8. Kevin Plawecki – C
  9. Matt Harvey – RHP

It’s been an interesting last 24 hours for the Mets. Niese had a rough start, although its confusing why he was pitching as his wife was giving birth at the same time. Anyway, Conforto made his major league debut, got an RBI. Oh, and the Mets traded Gant and Whaler to the Braves and picked up Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson. So things are happening?

Despite all of the news in the last day, it is also Matt Harvey Day. Harvey is 8-7 over 18 starts and 118.1 innings with a 3.19 ERA. Harvey had a rough start coming back from the All-Star break where he allowed 5 runs, 4 earned over 7.0 innings after a string of good starts except for one, which was against the Dodgers where he allowed 3 ER over 5.0 innings. The Dodgers have the following numbers against Harvey:

  • Rollins 3-16, 2 2B, HR
  • Gonzalez 2-8, HR
  • Ethier 2-5
  • Puig 3-5, 2B
  • Callaspo 1-3
  • Crawford 0-2

For the Dodgers: at this time I’m not sure. I have to leave and the Dodgers haven’t announced their starter yet. The most likely pitcher at this point would be Zach Lee making his major league debut. He is 7-3 in the minors with a 2.36 ERA over 12 starts and 68.2 innings. The Dodgers rotation is in flux right now with a demotion to Beachy earlier in the week and Greinke going on paternity leave (to pitch tomorrow). There was a possibility that he was going to pitch today. Of course, it really could be someone else making the start today, good luck to the Mets!

Lets Go Mets!
