Young, 28, hit just .261 with a .671 OPS in 313 career games and is a .211 career hitter away from Coors Field. Red Hot Puello Blasts Two More Homers
Right fielder Cesar Puello hit two solo home runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Binghamton Mets defeated the Trenton Thunder, 5-4, Thursday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. The red-hot Puello hit four home runs in the series and now has 12 on the season while batting .320/.401/.588 in 50 games this season. In a Boom or Bust feature on Sunday, I wrote the following about Puello: It seemed like [...]

David Wright Believes In “The Plan”
Mike Puma of the New York Post writes that David Wright has zero regrets, and continues to believe in the direction of the franchise. “I’m disappointed in our performance so far,” Wright told The Post. “As far as specifically what Sandy and I talked about and I guess the plan moving forward, a big part of that plan is pieces we have in the higher minor leagues.” David Wright, who signed an eight-year, $138 million contract extension [...]

MMO Player of the Week: Wright Pulls Off The Hat-Trick!
DAVID WRIGHT, 3B MMO PLAYER OF THE WEEK David Wright copped his third MMO Player of the Week honor after what may have been his most productive week of the season. The feisty third baseman had a few run-ins the umps this past week which is something we don’t see too much of from him, but it’s what a player does in the box score that matters most for this weekly staple at MMO. Wright posted [...]

David Wright Superstar?
You’ve probably read an article like this before. Lord knows enough of them have been written. Is David Wright a superstar? Its an argument that still rages on an almost daily basis across every social media forum. On one side, you find a group of super-critical fans who feel Wright can’t possibly live up to his eight year, $138 million dollar contract. On the other side, you find the “apologists”, the “fan girls”, and a [...]

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!
In honor of this weekend’s upcoming Indianapolis 500, I’d like to share my thoughts about speed. I seem to have noticed that the Mets are having a little bit of a problem with their power this season. Entering this weekend’s series against the Red Sox, the Mets were 15th in the National League in home runs. This is certainly unexpected for a team with such strong hitters as David Wright, Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran. [...]

Seven Stolen Bases, A New Mets Record!
The Mets have just stolen their sixth and seventh bases of the game tonight, thanks to a double steal with Sheffield swiping third and Wright taking second. The seven stolen bases set a new Mets club record. For David Wright it was his fourth steal of the night and a new career best. Carlos Beltran also swiped third base (again!) and came around to score the run that put the Mets on top in the ninth [...]
