Fernando Martinez Heads Mets Top 10 Prospects

Check out the Mets Top 10 Prospects as compiled by Marc Hulet of FanGraphs, who did an excellent job of providing a detailed analysis on each player complete with statistical data as well. Fernando Martinez tops his list and he writes the following about him, Although some have already, it is far too early to give up on Martinez. Just 21 years old, the Dominican outfielder just needs to have a healthy season. When he did [...]

How To Fix The Mets in 2010

Like all loyal and lifetime New York Mets Fans 2009 will certainly go down in Mets history as the most injury plagued season in their entire 48 seasons of National League play. Everybody knows that every member of “The Core” players were down for various amounts of time during the season and if the core played together for ten games all season long that would probably be an exaggeration. Dirt was thrown at everybody from [...]

How The Internet Has Changed The Game of Baseball

Over the past two decades or so, the Internet has revolutionized the way people live their lives. People are able to reconnect with those old high school buddies from thirty years ago, while browsing their favorite stores all from the palm of their hand simultaneously. More specifically, the Internet has changed the fan’s experience with the world of baseball. In the past, fans had to rely on sporadic television and radio coverage about their team [...]

Who’s The Real Top Prospect; Flores, Martinez Or… Thole

This season shortstop Wilmer Flores seems to have overtaken outfielder Fernando Martinez as the Mets top prospect. That said, there are many scouts out there who don’t think either of them are all they are cracked up to be. Yesterday, Tim Bontemps of the NY Post reported on what one scout had to say regarding the Mets number one prospect, Wilmer Flores. “I was not impressed at all. . . . In fact, I was kind of [...]

Who Are These Doctors Anyway?

You know, I can accept the fact that the injury bug has bitten our Mets hard this season, and that freak accidents have hurt, as has being beaned in the head by opposing pitchers.  We’ve learned to accept that we have average to below-average replacements and that the season was basically over before the all-star break.  Now we’re biding our time and waiting until next year, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t [...]

More Of The Same Next Year!

Yesterday on his twitter Sports Illustrated’s Jon Heyman posted the following: “minaya, manuel have been told by mets boss jeff wilpon they wont be fired over this painful season.” This organization continues to amaze me. The past 2 seasons have ended with the Mets missing the post season by 1 game, losing that important 1 game the last day of the season.  The Wilpons decide before the Madoff scandal broke that they want a lower [...]

Fernando Martinez to DL

New York Mets outfielder and top prospect Fernando Martinez’s injury woes have sidelined him again. Martinez was placed on the Disabled List due to inflammation behind his right knee. Martinez had missed the last four games, and had not played since July 3rd against the Phillies. Infielder Argenis Reyes was called up to take Martinez’s spot on the roster. Martinez will likely retun to the minors after his rehab stint. By my count I think [...]

They Haven’t Scored Since Saturday!

The Mets were shut out Tuesday night by the Dodgers over at Citi Field, the final score Dodgers 8, Mets 0. The last time the Mets scored was on Saturday afternoon. The scoreless streak is at 18+ innings. At what point does Jerry Manuel wake up and realize his offensive strategy isn’t working? Why does Jerry continue to trot out double play machine Fernando Tatis? I know Tatis was comeback player of the year last [...]

If you’re a crazed Mets fan like me, you probably have that little sidebar gadget on your Vista desktop that shows you the updated NL East Standings. And if you are a discombobulated nut like me, you probably knocked over your orange juice this morning when you booted your laptop and the first thing you notice is that the Mets are just half a game behind the Phillies! Second baseman, Luis Castillo will be on his toes for [...]

The Three Fernandos Ride Again!

In our last episode, the Three Fernandos appeared to have disbanded.  Fernando Nieve was fighting for his life to stay in the rotation and was given one more shot to remain a core member of the Three Fernandos.  Fernando Tatis was in the process of having the villagers sew him a new uniform.  Rumor had it that his new number was going to be 6-4-3.  Fernando Martinez had been sent down to Triple-A Buffalo after [...]

F-Mart It’s Your Time To Shine!

For the last 4 years we have been hearing about Fernando “F-Mart” Martinez.  The 16 year old was praised as the future of the New York Mets.  F-Mart was the 5 tool player that the Mets were going to make into their next superstar.  There were growing pains of course, the last couple of seasons F-Mart was injured.  Some were wondering if F-Mart would live up to his expectations. The 2009 Mets as we all [...]
