Altoona 5, Binghamton 4 Despite two home runs from Wilfredo Tovar, the Binghamton Mets had three costly throwing errors as they fell to the Altoona Curve, 5-4 on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. The loss snapped their five-game winning streak. After a scoreless first inning, Binghamton struck the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, Tovar blasted a solo shot over the left field wall against Casey Sadler. It was Wilfredo’s […]
During the Mets telecast yesterday, roving reporter Kevin Burkhardt reported that Double-A pitcher Noah Syndergaard, could be making landfall in the big leagues by as soon as July of 2014 at the rate he’s going, according to Mets VP of Player Development Paul DePodesta. This would be similar to the track the team took in promoting Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler - finishing strong at Double-A, starting the new season at Triple-A, and a promotion to the bigs […]
During the first four months of the 2013 season, Cesar Puello has finally displayed why he has been so highly touted as an exciting five-tool prospect. So far, Puello has performed at an MVP level for the Binghamton Mets, consistently displaying each of his five tools, while absolutely scorching the ball. His batting average now stands at league leading .334 with a .411 on-base, a .563 slugging, and a .973 OPS that all rank in the top […]
Logan Verrett was knocked out of last night’s ballgame against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the third inning, but the B-Mets scored seven runs between the fifth and sixth innings to secure their 52nd win of the season. If you missed the recap here on MMN, you can see it here. How did the B-Mets get all those runs in such a short period of time? The answer to that question is off the bat of Danny […]
The following is an interview we did with Josh Satin back on July 4th, 2011. Here we are two years later and who could have predicted that he’d be playing first base regularly and thriving as he has in the major leagues? Well actually, I did predict it, but it’s early yet so I’ll take a wait and see approach. But needless to say, I am very pleased with the results so far. Last night […]
Well, Thor just continues to make his case to be our mid-season #1 prospect (hint-hint) as he posted another strong pitching performance today. He lasted five innings against the Trenton Thunder, and ran up his pitch count with nine strikeouts. He left the game after 93 pitches thrown — 67 of them for strikes — and was in control the entire game. His only blemish all game was a lead-off home run to Ramon Flores. […]
If you’re wondering like me why outfield prospect Cesar Puello hasn’t been promoted to Triple-A yet, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York sheds some light. A team official suggested a promotion to Las Vegas is not imminently looming for Puello, though. The Mets do not mind Puello finally having a prolonged period of success. Plus, the outfield is about to become crowded in Triple-A with den Dekker very soon joining the 51s outfield, which already […]
Noah Syndergaard is making his first start at Double-A Binghamton this afternoon after being promoted from Single-A St. Lucie on Saturday. To make room for Syndergaard on the roster, the B-Mets place Alfonzo Harris on the DL. The game is underway, and Syndergaard’s first pitch in the game was a 96 mph strike. The B-Mets are on top 1-0 after the first inning of play, thanks to Cesar Puello’s 14th home run of the season. […]
Here is the rest of my interview with Lynn Worthy, who covers the Binghamton Mets as the regular beat writer for the Press & Sun Bulletin. Lynn provides some great insight on Which player’s performance has impressed you the most thus far and do you believe it will eventually translate well in the majors? The most impressive so far would have to be Rafael Montero because of the command he’s displayed. Cesar Puello’s recent play has […]
