Adam Rubin reported today that Daniel Murphy and the Mets have settled on a one-year deal for 2014 at $5.7 million and will avoid arbitration.

Murphy also will have the opportunity to earn a $50,000 bonus with 500 plate appearances.

Murphy earned $2.925 million last season and has one more arbitration year before becoming eligible for free agency after the 2015 season.

The final two arbitration eligible players the Mets have to settle with are Dillon Gee and Lucas Duda. Given the current Mets momentum, they could probably be signed before the weekend is over.

With today’s signings, the Mets payroll is now at roughly $86.2 million.
