MMO Mailbag: Trade For Cubs Centerfielder Tony Campana?
Jerome asks: Is there a chance that the Mets could check in on Cubs centerfielder Tony Campana? With Scott Hairston joining a crowded outfield situation in Chicago, Campana seems to be the odd man out now. Given the latest on the Michael Bourn front it seems unlikely that the Mets will sign him so why not go after Campana and add some speed and defense to the team via that route? Thoughts on a few [...]

They Didn’t Do It For The Glory, They Did It For The Dough…
Money is the root of all evil? That’s what a lot of folks think down in the Bible Belt… Are they onto something? Yesterday, the news broke in Miami, FL about another huge PED scandal that is certain to rock the National Pastime to it’s core… Again. Three weeks ago, the BBWAA hurled a shutout against the Hall of Fame’s “Class of 2013″. The goal was to send a message to the players who racked [...]

Scouting Report on Mets Mock Draft Pick at #11
I hadn’t given it much thought until it became clear that the interest in free agent center fielder Michael Bourn was more than just passing. I don’t really think that Bourn’s price will drop into a range the Mets are comfortable with, and if it does, that would probably invite more teams to take a shot at him. There’s also the little matter of the draft pick. I’m torn between whether I think the league [...]

In his first full season as the Mets second baseman, Murphy batted .291/.332/.403 with six home runs and 65 RBI in 156 games last season. The team also avoided arbitration with Ike Davis and Bobby [...]

Mets Sign Reliever Scott Atchison To Minors Deal (Updated)
The Mets just announced that they have signed RHP Scott Atchison to a Minor League contract with an invite to Spring Training. Atchison will make $700,000 if he makes the team out of camp, and can earn an additional $150,000 in incentives. Atchison, 36, made 42 relief appearances for the Red Sox in 2012 and went 2-1 with a 1.58 ERA, allowing just two home runs in 51 1/3 innings. He ranked fourth in the Major Leagues in ERA among [...]

2013 Means Everything For Duda
Am I the only one who sees a lot of Mike Pelfrey in Lucas Duda? Duda is expected to be the bright and shining star in the Mets OF (heck he was supposed to last year also) and it reminds me of when Pelfrey unfairly was expected to be the ace. It’s as if we see glimmers of hope and rather than accept the guy for what he is – we magnify it to make [...]

It’s Just Another Old Fashioned PED Scandal
It wouldn’t be an MLB offseason without a juicy PED scandal right? Well here you go. Courtesy of Tim Elfrink of the Miami NewTimes, some significant names have been associated with a Miami clinic that has been linked to supplying drugs to several people ranging from University coaches, to current MLB players. Of course there will be a lot of work done to check the validity of the story and the list, but Elfrink says [...]
