The New York Mets have announced today that Wilmer Flores has won the Sterling Organizational Player of the Year Award in 2012. Right-hander Rafael Montero won the Sterling Organizational Pitcher of the Year Award. Flores, 21, had a tremendous campaign this season hitting a combined .300 with 18 homers and 75 RBIs between St. Lucie and Binghamton. After experiencing some regression in 2011, Flores as catapulted himself back to the top of the rankings as a prospect. [...]

Should Mets Consider Bringing Mike Pelfrey Back?
Mike Pelfrey surfaced on the Mets’ radar yesterday when he showed up in St. Louis to participate in the team’s fantasy football draft. Pelfrey was shelved almost immediately and underwent Tommy John surgery, May 1. Most likely, he’ll be non-tendered in December because he’s arbitration eligible and made $5.6875 million this season. The rules state players must make at least 80 percent of their previous year’s salary, but in reality rarely take a pay cut. Should [...]

September Roster Expansion Could Be Reduced From 40 To 30 Players
A source has told Scott Miller of CBS Sports, that changes could be coming to September 1st Roster Expansion rules and that it could happen as soon as next season. The most common scenario under discussion is to expand September rosters to 30, with each club’s 25-man roster on Aug. 31 being locked in throughout September. In other words, each team would use that 25-man roster as a base throughout September, and then have the ability to add [...]

Mets Dealt A 5-1 Loss By The Redbirds
The Mets (64-72) lost to the Cardinals (74-62) by the score of 5-1 on Tuesday evening at Busch Stadium. 0-14 with RISP so far this series will win you no games. Harvey was the man on the mound for the Mets and looked like he was uncomfortable out there. Although, admittedly, the only Met that looked comfortable pitching out there tonight was Familia. Harvey got through five innings, allowing six hits and walking three. He allowed [...]

Should The Mets Trade Dickey And Wright?
There was an interesting article by Joel Sherman in the NY Post this past Sunday. He argues that the only way the Mets can cure their woes, is by trading R.A. Dickey and David Wright for a bunch of prospects. Really Joel? Just up and trade the two reasons why Mets fans still watch the games? That’s the fix? I couldn’t disagree more. The logic is sound, but this move would lead to further fan [...]

Wright Wants To Remain A Met: “Not A Single Complaint”
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, All-Star third baseman David Wright badly wants to remain in Flushing for life. Wright has indicated multiple times his interest in staying with the Mets, but this time around it was a bit more direct. Here are some highlights of Heyman’s column: “I’m extremely optimistic,” he said. “I’ve really enjoyed it here.” “Although we haven’t gotten things completely turned around, we’ve taken small steps in the right direction and have [...]

The Baltimore Orioles Are Defying Baseball Logic
It’s September 4th, and the Orioles find themselves one game out of first place in the American League East. That statement, on it’s own, isn’t too ridiculous. It’s when you start looking at the stats that make that statement look ridiculous. The Orioles are not a good baseball team according to the stats. In fact, if you were to look at the league statistical rankings, before looking at the standings, you would think they stink. [...]
