The Mets have announced that they have signed RHP Scott Patterson to a minor league contract. Patterson, 33, has pitched in 26 games for the Tacoma Rainiers after signing a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners this off-season. The righty has posted a 1-3 record with a 2.89 ERA and four saves. In 28.0 innings of work, he allowed just 25 hits while striking out 25 batters. Backman earned a three-game suspension from the International League for his part in an arguement with Syracuse manager Tony Beasley in the middle of the fourth inning Friday night.
