Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record is hearing that the Mets are ready to announce Josh Lewin as the replacement for Wayne Hagin in the WFAN radio booth for the 2012 season. Klapisch says that the former Texas Rangers broadcaster would be signed to a one-year deal. It was Neil Best of Newsday, who first reported that Lewin had emerged as a leading candidate for the job. MLB.com’s John Star released the 2012 Mets Organizational Preview which includes the Top 20 prospects. He speculates that the future of the Mets’ rotation will knock on the door of Citi Field this season and lists Wheeler, Harvey and Familia as the Mets top three prospects with outfielders Brandon Nimmo and Cesar Puello rounding out the top five. The Nationals have signed Rick Ankiel to a minor league contract with a spring training invite, according to Amanda Comak of the Washington Times. Ankiel hit .236 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs in 122 appearances for the Nationals last season. The Mets were reportedly very interested in Ankiel and according to Jon Heyman, they were trying to scrape up the $1 million dollars they’d need to sign him.
