Break Up The Mets! Amazins’ Complete 4-Game Sweep With 9-8 Win Over Reds
The monster that wouldn’t die… For the first time in their fifty year history, the Mets completed a four-game sweep of the Reds after winning a 10-9 nail-biter in Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon. Game Highlights Jason Bay went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs today. The doubles were his first in 50 games after a 195 at-bat drought. He is still struggling and is batting .176 in his last ten games and .230 on the season. [...]

Fun With Mets Milestones
With so many impressive athletes now playing baseball and many other sports, we sometimes forget how important little achievements are… like say, 300 saves or 300 HRs. Those are incredible numbers and very respectable in my opinion, so this is a short bit on some important numbers coming and something for you to take notice of for the rest of the season and the beginning of next. You’re about to see a ton of numbers [...]

Sandy Alderson Conference Call Recap w/Video
Mets GM Sandy Alderson held a conference call today to officially announce the acquisition of RHP Zack Wheeler from the Giants in exchange for Carlos Beltran and cash considerations. - The Mets are done dealing so don’t expect any last minuted deals at the buzzer before the trade deadline expires on Sunday night at midnight. Alderson is fully aware that by trading Beltran, he’s made it a little tougher on the remaining players to try and compete, but he says [...]

MMO Rapid Reaction: Carlos Beltran Trade
Carlos Beltran’s long, and historic tenure with the Mets came to an end today, as the Mets traded the outfielder (along with cash considerations) to the San Francisco Giants for top pitching prospect Zach Wheeler (pending approval from MLB). As we here at MMO celebrate Carlos Beltran with “Beltran Appreciation Week”, we’ve written about his greatest accomplishments, achievements, and anything in particular. Heck, we even replaced Mike Piazza with Carlos Beltran on our MMO banner this week. Shocking isn’t it? [...]

Baseball America’s Jim Callis Calls Wheeler “A Good Get For Mets”
When it comes to Minor League Baseball coverage, nobody will dispute that Baseball America reigns supreme for everything you need to know ranging from the high school and college prospects, and of course the international, amateur and professional ranks as well. One of the masterminds behind that great magazine is executive editor Jim Callis, who had some interesting things to say about Zack Wheeler yesterday. “It’s a really nice get for the Mets,” said Baseball America [...]

Beltran Should Be Remembered Positively
The inevitable happened and Carlos Beltran is now a member of the San Francisco Giants, where he has an opportunity to atone for taking strike three against Adam Wainwright in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS. One thing for certain is he wasn’t going to get it from the Mets, even had he stayed. After two injury riddled seasons and the Mets’ financial empire crumbling, we knew Beltran wouldn’t finish out the year. Saddled with [...]

Carlos Beltran: Un Icono
Everybody has something to say about Carlos Beltran leaving and I am most definitely no different. Carlos Beltran was one of my favorite Met players in history, and probably comes second only to Mike Piazza in terms of respect and adoration in my eyes. I haven’t had the opportunity to watch the Mets for as long as most of you – this will be around my 11th year. I haven’t seen many center fielders past [...]

End Of An Era – Carlos Beltran’s Franchise Records And Rankings
In less than seven full seasons, Carlos Beltran has worked his way up the Mets career leaderboard in virtually every category. What makes Beltran’s achievements more impressive is that he’s 17th on the franchise’s all-time games played list, but ranks in the top ten in the majority of the cumulative stats. (doubles, home runs, RBI, runs scored, etc.) To celebrate Carlos Beltran Appreciation Week on MMO, I have gone through the record books (also known [...]
