Doug’s Dugout: Revolving Doors, Sour Grapes and Whipping Posts
In Doug’s Dugout today we discuss: the broken bullpen, Sick Bay, and other feeble thoughts. The best way to fix the Mets bullpen is to remove the door from it’s hinges. That will make it easier for the relievers to enter the field. And it would be more practical too! After all, it’s been like a stampede out there so far. Better yet, install a revolving door, because by the end of the season, the [...]

From Left Field: I Have An Addiction
I have an addiction. Unfortunately, many young men my age have bigger problems than I do. Some have fallen to drug or alcohol addictions, which is always a sad situation. They have their whole lives ahead of them, but they succumb to their addiction. I have an addiction. The first part of dealing with an addiction is to admit you have one. Just this past week, I came to the conclusion that I am addicted [...]

R.A. Dickey Declares Himself Fit For Next Start
According to Scott Cacciola of the Wall Street Journal, R.A. Dickey declared himself fit to return to the mound for the Mets this week, and he was happy to report that the nail on his right index finger was 100% healthy. This is big news for the Mets, who are relying on Dickey—who owns two of the most important fingernails in baseball—to help bail them out of their early-season malaise. Dickey, a knuckleball pitcher, split his [...]

Murphy Gets A Second Go At It

It is expected he will be at second base for tonight’s contest according to a few reports. Collins cautioned that he is not yet ready to call this a platoon, but was simply rewarding Murphy for playing a solid second.base on Monday night. David Lennon of Newsday writes that paience [...]

Dillon Gee Could Make Spot Start On Sunday
Due to the implications from tonight’s rain out and Thursday’s doubleheader, the Mets may have to use R.A. Dickey on short rest or callup another starter to pitch Sunday’s game. Adam Rubin of ESPN believes that the Mets could send reliever Ryota Igarashi down to the minors and callup starting pitcher Dillon Gee from Buffalo to make the spot start on Sunday. With six games now in a five-day stretch, the Mets will need a spot starter Sunday, if [...]

The Mets Are In Trouble
The New York Mets are in serious trouble. Any fan watching the early games could have told you that, though. However, they are in worse shape than I ever thought they’d be in. Through the first ten games, their pitching as a whole has been absolutely horrendous. I’m not going to lie and say I expected Pelfrey to pitch like an ace. However, he’s not only not pitched like an ace, he hasn’t even pitched [...]
