MMO Fantasy Baseball
Updated @ 9:00 2/24: Hey, it’s Kelly, your one and only official MMO graphic designer. Just wanted to add that I created a graphic for the league. Enjoy and good luck to all! Updated @ 7:30, 2/24: Great turnout! And I was worried about filling up twelve spots. I expanded the league to the maximum allowed, 20 teams. That would be the deepest league I’ve ever been a part of. I’m already stoked. And remember, [...]

Are Mets Prospects Being Rushed To The Majors?
On Tuesday, our own Ed Leyro posted a great piece which illustrated quite clearly how woefully deficient the Mets have been in producing an 18 game winner. In fact, they are on the verge attaining yet another dubious record; the longest drought in MLB history. Since 1990, no Met pitcher has reached the 18-win mark in a single season and only Al Leiter has won as many as 17 games, doing so in 1998. (Pedro Martinez is the [...]

Spring Update: Say Cheese, Murph Vs Emaus, Wrappers, Beltran Running
It’s Photo Day at Mets camp and you can check most of them out on the New York Mets Twitter. Meanwhile, here’s the latest from Camp Collins… Dedicated readers of this site were among the first to learn that Francisco Rodriguez is technically not on the 40-man roster because he ended last season on the Restricted List. It gave the Mets the ability to essentially operate with a 41-man roster. Today, Joel Sherman reported [...]

The Battle For the Back End of the Rotation
Last week I wrote a piece on the position battle currently going on at second base. This week I will take a look at the back end of the Mets rotation. The Mets have four players who will be in the running for two spots. The Contenders: Chris Capuano- 4-4, 3.95 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 2.57 K/BB, 0.5 WAR, $1.5 million, 32 years old Chris Young- 4-6, 5.21 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 1.25 K/BB, -0.5 WAR, $1.1 [...]

Will Emaus and Beato Snap Mets Rule 5 Dry Spell?
That’s Kelly Stinnett – the last Mets Rule 5 selection to stick with the Mets for an entire season. With all the positive news coming out of camp about Mets Rule 5 selections 2B Brad Emaus and RHP Pedro Beato, I thought I would resurrect this post I wrote six weeks ago. Initially, I thought these kids had literally no chance to stick, now I’m thinking both have a really good chance to stick. Today, Terry [...]

Spring Update: Beato’s FB Is Explosive, Alvarez Is A Darkhorse, Been Nice Knowing You Luis
Hi Mets fans! Lot’s of good information in today’s Spring Update so pay attention. SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt gets things started off by saying the following about Pedro Beato via Twitter today, “One more thing on Beato- grew up a Mets fan and he has the best fastball in camp.” I don’t know how accurate that is or if Bobby Parnell would agree, but Collins also said today that he is very impressed with how his fastball explodes at [...]

A Dubious Mets Pitching Feat, 20 Years In The Making
Throughout their nearly half-century of existence, the Mets have always prided themselves on their pitching. From stalwarts like Tom Seaver and Jerry Koosman to ’80s greats Dwight Gooden and David Cone, the Mets have always had a quality starter or two in their rotation. Even the current Mets have an ace up their sleeve every time Johan Santana takes the mound. However, since 1988, the Mets have only won one NL East championship (2006), and [...]

From Left Field: Terry Collins And The Moneyball Theory
On this date in 1934, the Brooklyn Dodgers signed Casey Stengel to a two-year deal to be their manager. Today, 77 years later, Terry Collins will look to the example set by Stengel in running a baseball team. Though they Mets were downright terrible during Stengel’s tenure, the fire and energy he brought as the first Mets manager rang true with the players. Early reports have described Collins as “loud,” which is a great sign [...]

Alderson Can Put His Stamp On The Mets By Trading For Francisco Liriano
In an article entitled “Is Liriano fit for the Big Apple?”, Michael Rand of the Star-Tribune writes, If you’ve been fascinated — either in an intrigued way or a disgusted way — by the Twins’ willingness to entertain offers for pitcher Francisco Liriano ever since it became part of the landscape a couple of weeks ago, perhaps you should add this notion to the mix: If the Twins are serious about listening to possible deals [...]

Beltran Talks About Position Change
In the following video, which comes courtesy of Newsday, Carlos Beltran discusses his thoughts on changing his position from center field to right field. Beltran says that before he makes a decision either way, he would like to complete his running program after which he will give the Mets and honest answer on whether or not he can play center field regularly. If he has to move to right field, than that’s what will happen.
