ESPN Tackles The Madoff/Wilpon Issue

This morning, ESPN: Outside The Lines discussed the implications of the Madoff claw-back lawsuit headed by the trustee Irving Picard who is acting on behalf of all the victims. Picard alleges that the Mets owners should have known about the fraud and raked in millions in illegal profits. Thanks to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York for the link.

Splitsville: Brad Emaus Inside The Numbers

You can call this a companion post to Jim Mancari’s earlier post on Brad Emaus. I want to touch on another few concerns I have with Brad Emaus and this fan-wide enthusiasm that he was the steal of the Rule 5 Draft and that he’ll win the second base job this spring. Not so fast. In addition to the points Jim laid out, I found some troubling information from looking at his splits. Sometimes you [...]

Some Happy Mets Thoughts On A Cold Friday

It seems that some of you really got your feathers ruffled over my post the other day in which I speculated that Pujols and the Phillies looked like a good match? Chill out everybody, we’ve been speculating on MMO since 2005, you should be used to it by now. Did you happen to catch Andy Martino’s column Sunday in the Daily News about Sandy Alderson revamping the scouting system? Honestly, I had no idea how [...]

Discussing Mets Prospects With Joe DeMayo Of Port St. Lucie To Flushing

Recently I did an email interview with Joe DeMayo who does a fantastic job covering the Mets Minor Leagues and the MLB Draft for the excellent Mets site, St. Lucie To Flushing. 1. Where do you rank the Mets Minor League System on a scale of 1-10 in the following areas: A) Starting Pitching: 3. And that could possibly be generous. Frankly the only pitchers that I truly see as big league starting pitchers in [...]

From Left Field: Does Brad Emaus Deserve The Preseason Hype?

I love when MLB analysts, bloggers and fans release their picks for a team’s projected lineup heading into the season. In many cases, educated baseball fans arrive somewhere in the “ballpark” (no pun intended) of what the Opening Day lineup will look like. Since Terry Collins has given everyone a preview of at least two-thirds of the order, there really is no guessing game associated with what the lineup will be this year. As of [...]

A federal bankruptcy judge in Manhattan appointed former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo on Thursday to serve as a mediator in the legal dispute between the Mets owners and the court-appointed trustee trying to recover money for victims of Madoff’s Ponzi scheme. Bobby Parnell Finally Gets It

Dan Martin of the NY Post, had a quote from reliever Bobby Parnell who talked about why he didn’t make the team out of Spring Training last season and ended up starting the season with Triple-A Buffalo. “I got caught up into working on my off-speed pitches too much instead of pitching and I had a couple of bad outings,” Parnell said at Digital Domain Park. “I didn’t really prove anything last year while I [...]

Where Are Jason Bay and Carlos Beltran?

In a post to MetsBlog, Matt Cerrone shared a concern from one of his Twitter followers that lead to a post entitled: Where are Ollie and Castillo? He replied on his blog, I’ve been thinking the same thing. I mean, I hate to judge, because who knows, maybe they have something important going on in their personal lives, etc., that preclude them from attending these voluntary workouts? Then again, it’s not news that these two are [...]
