Can The Mets Win With The Wilpons As Owners?
When a team in any sport is struggling everyone from the general manager to the coaches/manger to the players take the blame. In some cases like the Mets it’s true. Omar Minaya needs to go as does Jerry Manuel and most of his coaching staff. I know of a certain pitcher making $36 million dollars that’s now in the bullpen that needs to be released and a couple of guys on the bench should be [...]

5/24 Minor League Report! KYLE ALLEN!
There’s a rain delay in Savannah right now. It’s 2-2 in the 13th inning, and who knows when it’ll resume, or if it will, so I’m gonna go ahead and post the report as is. I’ll put the Savannah game at the top of tomorrow’s report. AAA International League: Buffalo 3/8/1, LeHigh Valley 6/11/1 Bobby Parnell continues to pitch very … weirdly. Including tonight, he’s gone 24.2 innings in AAA, with 14 walks and 27 [...]

John Maine Feels Pain; Daniel Murphy To Become SuperDan
On Friday, the Mets placed starting pitcher John Maine on the 15-day disabled list with what the team called shoulder weakness. Now Anthony DiComo of mlb.com is reporting that John Maine has been diagnosed with tendinitis in his right rotator cuff, as per the results of today’s MRI. The precautionary MRI was deemed necessary when Jerry Manuel removed Maine from Thursday’s game against the Nationals after five pitches due to a lack of velocity. Although [...]

Homefield Advantage Paying Dividends for the Mets
As we are approaching the end of the second month of the second season in the newly constructed Citi Field, it appears as if the Mets have finally figured out their new gem and how to use it to their advantage. Initially the new ballpark drew concerns from about every Mets fan in the United States due to its enormous dimensions, high walls, and new for 2010, the jet streams that flow through the open [...]

Mejia’s Future…as a Closer?
There has been a lot of talk about what to do with Jenrry Mejia. Do the Mets send him to the minor leagues and start to stretch him out to become a starting pitcher? Do they keep him in the bullpen and hope he matures in the major leagues? After Francisco Rodriguez’s best attempt to allow the Yankees to have yet another Subway Series moment, I’ve decided what the future should hold for Mejia. This [...]

Jerry Manuel Not Nearly This Bad
We’ve all seen plenty of head-scratchers from Jerry Manuel this season, and many of his major strategical blunders have been chronicled and well documented on this site, but here’s something that might make you feel more appreciative of the Mets man in the hot seat. The Cardinals have been struggling to score runs this season and until last night’s win, they have spent most of the season looking up at the first place Reds who have [...]

Mets Beat Yankees But That’s Hardly Enough
So many indelible moments in life seem to occur in slow motion, sometimes both the good and bad moments. The 2010 Mets season for me has been just that, a slow motion Shakespearean tragedy. Perhaps to some a typically bad CW network soap opera. It’s your choice. The Mets are in my opinion, just about beyond tinkering because the problems are systemic and involve the dreaded “intangibles”. Unfortunately a win here and there only clouds the [...]

Ooh Bay-Bay-Baby, Mets Top Yanks 6-4

Game Summary Santana stepped up and gave the Mets a dominant start against a tough opponent in C.C. Sabathia and the defending champs, New York Yankees. Johan allowed just one run on six hits, while walking three and striking [...]

Pagan’s Maturing Giving Mets Options
Last winter, when the Mets signed Jason Bay, I was struck by the amount of talented players whom the Mets had procured and had to play the outfield in 2010. I envisioned an outfield of Beltran flanked by Bay and the ex-Brave Jeff Francoeur, who had come to the Mets in the Ryan Church deal, and had been a lineup stalwart for the disappointing injury riddled 2009 Mets Angel Pagan, who had filled in for the aforementioned [...]
