Fresh Faces Ready To Roam In Buffalo

With about 3 days left until the “official” start of spring training for the New York Mets, minor league rosters are something that most fans are not currently focusing on. This article is by no means an argument as to why you should be, but more of an attention grabber trying to explain what we might have down in AAA… some much needed depth. Now I know that many people feel that minor league teams [...]

Mets Current Roster As Good As It Gets… Until???

The current Mets roster continues to morph into whatever vision Omar Minaya, his underlings and ownership have for the team. We can all question the moves or lack thereof, but for the time being with the exception of a few smaller moves, the Met roster seems pretty set. The Met payroll will be far lower this year. We can all argue about why, the Madoff fallout, anticipated lower attendance, dearth of quality talent in free [...]

The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Maine

Since becoming a Met in 2006, John Maine has shown signs of greatness, such as his near no-hitter against the Marlins on the next-to-last day of the 2007 season.  However, he has never been able to maintain the consistent level of pitching that a pitcher of his talent needs to be a top of the rotation starter. Never was this more apparent than during his 2009 season.  In fact, you might say Maine’s home and [...]

Competition Is In The Air

Competition is a good thing, and in Mets camp there is a lot of it. Many players have entered Mets camp this year hopeful they can win a job with the big league club. Let’s break down this completion position by position and name the favorites. Center Field – Carlos Beltran’s injury leaves a void in center field. The Mets acquired Gary Mathews Jr. to compete with Angel Pagan for the opening day center field [...]

Kelvim Escobar Could Start Season On DL

As reported by WFAN and now confirmed on Mets.com, manager Jerry Manuel said he doesn’t think Kelvim Escobar’s ailing shoulder will allow him to be the team’s eighth-inning man by Opening Day. Escobar, who has been limited to just one Major League appearance in the past two years because of right shoulder woes, said he’s been playing catch every other day, but he added that there’s still no timetable for when he’ll return to the [...]

Cardinals Sign Felipe Lopez For $1.75MM

Jon Heyman is reporting via Twitter that that the Cardinals have signed second baseman Felipe Lopez for about $1.75 million dollars. The deal includes some incentive bonuses. Wow… That’s less than what the Mets signed Alex Cora for. Anyway you look at this it’s an absolute steal for the Cards. Lopez, 29, has lingered on the free agent market despite hitting .310 with nine home runs and 57 RBIs in 151 games split between the Arizona [...]

Rubber, Meet Road

It’s that time, Mets fans, to start getting into the groove and rhythm before the season officially starts. After last season’s end and a tepid offseason, what should we be looking for out on the fields of PSL? I don’t live down there anymore regretfully so those that made the trip, please send me some weekly love and updates. I appreciate it! The mantra for most is: It’s just the pre-season and the games don’t [...]

Jeff Francoeur Leads The Charge

When the Mets traded Ryan Church for 25 year old left fielder Jeff Francoeur, the Braves as well as every saber-head in the universe said the Mets got hosed. Lately, they don’t chirp as loudly as they once did. I think they are lying in wait for one false move by Francoeur so they could jump out and proclaim, “You see! I told you so!”. I also believe they have a long wait ahead of them. I never really [...]
