The Mets former first round pick, has had a lot of expectations place on him since being selected ninth overall in the 2005 Amateur Draft. Now entering his fifth season in the Majors, Pelfrey is now at the make or break point of his career. After [...]

Aroldis Chapman Signs With Reds
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, Cuban LHP Aroldis Chapman has agreed to a deal with the Cincinnati Reds. Cuban left-handed pitcher Aroldis Chapman, whose defection sparked a bidding war among major league teams that coveted his 100-mph fastball, agreed Sunday morning to sign for $30 million with the Cincinnati Reds, sources close the negotiations told Yahoo! Sports. By now I’m sure you all know the whole story about how Chapman defected, and how he once [...]

Magic Mets Moments: Mano A Mano
Throughout history, the greatest conflicts are the ones which pit man against his fellow man. Moses vs. Pharaoh; Alexander Hamilton vs. Aaron Burr; Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker. However, not all conflicts must end in death. On that note, there is nothing more exciting than a showdown between a pitcher and batter in an important and critical moment of a baseball game. The Mets have had some incredibly exciting and hair raising moments. Below is [...]

Lets Not Make The Mistake Of Acting On Emotion With Endy Chavez
According to Larry Stone of the Seattle Times, former Mets outfielder Endy Chavez is willing to sign a minor league contract as he continues his rehab from surgery for a torn MCL and ACL in his knee. In March he will hold a showcase for interested teams, and apparently many are interested. Chavez is trying to return from a June 19th outfield collision with Yuniesky Betancourt while playing for the Mariners. Hew was expected to miss [...]

Pirates Looking to Sign Ryan Church?
Djean Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette believes that the Pirates are interested in signing right fielder Ryan Church. Church, 31, hit .273 with four home runs and 40 RBI’s while splitting time as a member of both the Mets and Braves last season. This news is somewhat surprising as it was rumored for weeks that the Pirates were looking to sign another free agent outfielder by the name of Rick Ankiel. However, as Kovacevic notes [...]

Mets Claim A’s Lefty Reliever Jay Marshall
Today, the Mets claimed LHP Jay Marshall off waivers from the Oakland Athletics after they designated him for assignment on Wednesday. The 26-year-old left-hander was 0-2 with a 14.73 ERA in 10 relief appearances last season for the A’s, but was slowed and hampered by shoulder tendinitis. He fared much better in the minors where he went 5-3 with seven saves and a 3.20 ERA in 50 games with Triple-A Sacramento. The Mets could use [...]

Are The Mets Playing With Fire?
It’s no secret that most Performance Enhancing Drugs, PED’s, are readily available and in most cases legal in many of the Latin countries where so many of today’s baseball players hail from. These banned substances are especially rampant in the Dominican Republic and in Venezuela where aspiring baseball players are exposed to them at a very young age. Sadly, many of these young players, some as young as 15-16, are encouraged to take these performance enhancing drugs to improve [...]

Mets Interested In Smoltz… Yes That Smoltz…
On Wednesday, the venerable Marty Noble posted his usual weekly mailbag, and in a question regarding the potential availability of John Smoltz he replied, Few personnel moves the Mets could make would please me, personally, as much as the addition of Smoltz. He’s a class act and a joy to cover. I’d like watching his slider, too. But, to me, adding Smoltz would be akin to signing Ben Sheets. Incentive-laden contract or not, he’d come [...]

Delgado Swinging Hot Bat, Mets To Take Closer Look
Playing in his third winter league game, Carlos Delgado continued his offensive outburst last night going 1-3 with a walk, a solo homerun and two RBIs. He is now batting .364 with with a .417 on-base percentage. One thing to bear in mind is that Delgado has been restricted to the designated hitter role thus far, and has yet to play first base. ( I use that term very loosely.) According to AOL’s Ed Price via Twitter, the Mets [...]
