Today, the Mets claimed LHP Jay Marshall off waivers from the Oakland Athletics after they designated him for assignment on Wednesday. The 26-year-old left-hander was 0-2 with a 14.73 ERA in 10 relief appearances last season for the A’s, but was slowed and hampered by shoulder tendinitis. Playing in his third winter league game, Carlos Delgado continued his offensive outburst last night going 1-3 with a walk, a solo homerun and two RBIs. He is now batting .364 with with a .417 on-base percentage. One thing to bear in mind is that Delgado has been restricted to the designated hitter role thus far, and has yet to play first base.
