Calling All Cars, Be On The Lookout For Brian Stokes
Brian Stokes has been missing since April 28th and none seems to know why he hasn’t been seen in a game since then. When last seen, Stokes was wearing his home uniform and had tossed 1.2 scoreless innings against the Marlins. He can easily be identified by his 0.00 ERA. Stokes is known to brandish a 98 MPH heater in his arsenal so consider him armed and dangerous. He asn’t been convicted of any crimes, but we’d [...]

Move Over Mariano, K-Rod Is The Best Now!
Today, Mike Francesa of WFAN has spent hours whining and bemoaning the fall of Yankees closer Mariano Rivera today. He is learning how to come to grips with the fact that Mariano Rivera has hit the wall and is no longer the most dominant closer in baseball. In 11.1 innings, Rivera has allowed 15 hits (4 of them homers), an un-Rivera like 3.97 ERA, and hitters are batting .306 against him. He has not allowed [...]

5/8 Minor League Report! FERNANDO, Thole, FAMILIA!
I got this via comment on MetsMerized (which is an all purpose Mets blog, which everyone should definitely visit) on the 4/30 Minor League Report (I post it there, as well as NYFS and my blog, MetsProspectHub, and yeah, it’s been a couple weeks, but um…I just figured out how to find my posts and reply to comments on MMO ) I was at the Port St Lucie game last night (meaning the April 30th [...]

NL East Weekday Roundup
The NL East had a bit of an eventful week, as the Mets swept both the Braves and the Phillies, the Braves swept the Marlins, and the Nationals had some crazy games against both Houston and Los Angeles. The Week That Was (Record in parenthesis shows record in mid-week series’) Atlanta Braves (2-2) @ Marlins (1-3) The Braves were swept by the New York Mets, but then proceeded to sweep the Florida Marlins. Derek Lowe [...]

PED’s: Which Player Would Really Shock You The Most?
When the news broke yesterday about Manny Ramirez being suspended for using a banned substance, many expressed surprise and some shock. It was the same when Alex Rodriguez admitted he lied and that he did in fact use steroids. When two big players such as A-Rod and Manny Ramirez get thrust into the performance enhancing drugs controversy, it’s going to become a tabloid-like, National Enquirer-esque sensation. The rumors of PED use had already been tied to both [...]

MLB News: What A Steal!
I was inspired to write this post based on something I read in an article by Tyler Kepner of the NY Times this morning. Longoria, 23, is in the second year of a contract that could run for nine years and cost the Rays about $45 million. Rodriguez, 33, is in the second year of a contract that will run for 10 years and could cost the Yankees $305 million. I don’t know how many [...]

Pelfrey Is Doing It Without The Strikeouts
Mike Pelfrey pitched a heck of a game yesterday as he helped to extend the Mets winning streak to four games after a 7-5 clubbing of the Phillies. Pelfrey pitched seven solid innings, but failed to notch one strikeout. It was his second straight game without a whiff. So far this season, Pelfrey has struck out just six batters in 28 innings. He has now gone 76 batters without a strikeout which caused David Wright to playfully [...]

Mets Unload On Moyer And Beat Phillies 7-5
Game Summary Mike Pelfrey gave the Mets another solid performance as the Mets topped the Phillies 7-5. The Mets broke out of their prolonged power slump at Citi Field and slugged three homeruns off starter Jaimie Moyer who once again failed to notch his 250th win. K-Rod notched his 9th save in nine opportunities and the Mets go over .500 (14-13)for the first time since week two. Mets Pitching Mike Pelfrey kept the Phillies in [...]
