It.s been a busy week for Wilmer Flores… First he has a huge game if the FSL All Star game and is named MVP. Next, he learns that he’s been promoted to Double-A Binghamton and follows that up with a game-winning hit in his last game as a St. Lucie Met. And today came the announcement that he has been named to the MLB Futures Game as one of two Mets, the other being top Mets pitching prospect, Zack Wheeler.
Both Flores and Wheeler will showcase their great talents and represent the New York Mets at next month’s All-Star Futures Game in Kansas City.
The game can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com’s Gameday on Sunday, July 8, at 5:00 PM Eastern.
Wheeler, 22, is 6-3 with a 1.88 ERA this season for Double-A Binghamton.
Flores, 20, is hitting .289 with 10 home runs in 64 games for Single-A St. Lucie.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com via twitter, the Mets are planning to promote top-prospect Wilmer Flores to Double-A Binghamton and could make his AA debut as early as tomorrow in the series finale against the Akron Aeros.
Flores was batting .289/.331/.464 in 63 game for the St. Lucie Mets with ten home runs and a team-leading 41 RBIs. In his fifth season with the Mets organization, the 20-year old finally has started to put it together offensively in his first full season at third base.
In other Mets minor league news, Flores’ former teammate Cory Mazzoni has been announced as the starter for the second game of tonight’s double-header, making his Double-A debut. Earlier this week, it was reported right here that Mazzoni would be getting the call to Binghamton, but today the team officially announced that he will make his debut tonight against the Akron Aeros.
Mazzoni was 5-1 with a 3.25 ERA in 63 2/3 frames for St. Lucie in 2012. Alongside Flores and six other Mets, Mazzoni was selected to the 2012 Florida State League All-Star Game and surrendered a run in an inning of work for the South.
Finally, Ruben Tejada’s rehab assignment has been moved back to Triple-A Buffalo. Tejada was 1-9 in his rehab stint with the St. Lucie Mets after aggravating his quad in Buffalo last week.
