According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, free agent right-handed starting pitcher Zack Wheeler already has one offer of at least $100 million. Rosenthal notes that Wheeler will likely sign a five-year deal that breaks the $100 million mark.

Ken reports that the White Sox, Twins, Reds, Rangers, and Blue Jays are among the teams currently pursuing the Wheeler. It’s been reported that the Rangers and Twins have already sat down with the former Mets starter.

The Yankees, Angels, and Padres are other teams that have shown varying levels of interest in the talented right-hander.

Wheeler, 29, is coming off back-to-back at least 4.0 WAR seasons and only has 749 major league innings on his arm. The former first round pick had a 3.96 ERA, 3.48 FIP, and 195 strikeouts compared to only 50 walks in 195 innings for the Mets in 2019.

The interest has been high in high upside arm, though there’s been very little recently about the Mets having serious discussions about bringing him back. Our own Tim Ryder did report that Wheeler is expected to check back with the Mets before potentially signing with another team.
