Chris+Young

Pending a physical, the New York Yankees and outfielder Chris Young have reached an agreement on a deal worth $2.5 million dollars.

WFAN’s Sweeny Murti first reported the deal and both sides reportedly wanted to get something done after the season ended.

After signing with the Mets for $7.25 million, Young struggled mightily and ended up being released in August. He batted just .205 with a .283 on-base, eight home runs and 28 RBI in 287 plate appearances.

The Yankees picked him up soon after and he delivered in a big way, batting .282/.354/.521 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 79 plate appearances.

Young, 31, is expected to backup Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, and Carlos Beltran, all three who have lost plenty of time to the disabled list in recent years.
