This morning I voiced my concerns about assuming that K-Rod could be done for weeks and even months.
I said to leave the diagnosing to the professionals and cited my my own experiences with people who suffered back spasms like K-Rod and were back at work in a few days.
I urged everyone to just be hopeful and see what unfolds today.
Guess what?
K-Rod feels great and wants to close today’s game at Fenway.
Only minutes ago, David Lennon of Newsday just tweeted the following on his Twitter account.
Frankie says relax. K-Rod won’t rule out closing today’s game. Feeling much better, still getting treatment, plans to play catch shortly.
Bart Hubbuch of the NY Post adds,
Rodriguez walked into the clubhouse under his own power today after being hospitalized briefly following the collapse in a Fenway Park hallway moments after the Mets’ 3-2 win over the Red Sox.
Rodriguez said the potent muscle relaxers and other medication he received at the hospital took effect immediately, and that his back also responded well when he woke up this morning.
Although Rodriguez said he hopes to pitch again as soon as today, Jerry Manuel made it clear during his pregame meeting with the meda that Mets are taking a cautious, wait-and-see approach.
It’s the best news we could have hoped for!
As for closing in today’s game goes, K-Rod should relax… literally!
