degrom harvey syndergaard

It is now official…

Speaking to reporters at a team workout at Citi Field, Manager Terry Collins announced that Matt Harvey is starting Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday against the Royals in Kansas City. He will be followed by Jacob deGrom in Game 2.

When the series shifts to New York, Noah Syndergaard will start Game 3, Steven Matz in Game 4, and Harvey again in Game 5.

If it does continue in Kansas City, it sets up Jacob deGrom for Game 6 and the deciding Game 7 falls on rookie phenom Noah Syndergaard.

Apparently the conversation went as follows according to the Mets skipper:

Collins: “You ready for it?”

Harvey: “Damn right”

Collins: And on working Game 7 in relief?

Harvey: “I’ll be ready.”

Hell yeah…. Wow, I  can’t wait!

Terry Collins spoke to reporters at Citi Field and now says that he has yet to decide what the rotation will be for the World Series or even who will be the Game 1 starter.

While you never really know with Collins, he also said that there’s no chance that Jacob deGrom will pitch in three games should the series go the full seven games. He said nothing else about the other three possibilities.

Earlier in the day, Buster Olney of ESPN said team sources informed him Jacob deGrom would start for the Mets in Game 1 of the World Series. Obviously, Buster needs new sources.
