Juan Lagares broke out of his 0-for-16 slump on Saturday night, with a dramatic two-run homer in the seventh inning to give the Mets a 3-2 lead en route to a big win against the Phillies in Citizens Bank Park.

“It has been a struggle for me the last couple of games,” said Lagares after the game, “I went out there looking for a good pitch to hit, and I hit it out.”

“I tried to be positive and go out there looking for a good pitch to hit, I hit that one good.”

As you can see below, Lagares absolutely crushed that pitch from Aaron Harang who had held the Mets in check all night long.

You knew it was gone the second he hit it, and boy did it ever leave the park in a hurry. Lagares then flipped his bat – Ken Griffey Jr. style – as he began his home run trot around the bases. It was totally cool!

Lagares has owned the Phillies in his brief career, batting .344 (44-for-128) in 37 games against them with a .404 on-base percentage and .912 OPS.

Overall this season, Lagares is batting .286 with three doubles, one triple, one home run, 13 RBI and 14 runs scored.
