The MLB winter meetings are underway in San Diego.

All of baseball has confined itself to the hotel lobbies of Hilton’s, Marriot’s, and more over the next few days. Here’s what’s come out of it so far.

Carlos Rodon

With Justin Verlander and Jacob deGrom off the market, Carlos Rodon shines as the top pitcher remaining. Rodon is reportedly seeking a six-year deal with an annual rate north of $30 million. The Yankees are the most focused on the free agent right now.

Luis Arraez

The Twins are exploring a trade to deal batting champ Luis Arraez in order to acquire top tier pitching. Four of their starters could be gone by 2024 and they want to create further stability at the position.

Brandon Nimmo

The Mets free agent is currently in San Diego meeting with teams. The top centerfielder on the market, Nimmo has drawn interest from around the league for his services after putting together a terrific 2022 season. The Mets, Mariners, Blue Jays, and more have already heavily looked into him.

Andrew Benintendi

The Mets might pivot toward left fielder Andrew Benintendi if Nimmo signs elsewhere. The free agent would be a more natural fit with a different team like the Yankees or Astros but the Mets could get creative to fill the hole left in their outfield if Nimmo chooses another franchise.

Christian Vazquez

The market for free agent catcher Vazquez is developing. The Cubs, Cardinals, Padres, Guardians, and Twins are all in. It’s likely the 32-year-old will get a three-year deal.
