Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim v New York Yankees

The White Sox have signed closing pitcher David Robertson to a four year deal worth $46 million, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today via Twitter.

Just two days ago, Daily News columnist John Harper, said in an article that the Mets should do something “eye-popping” and sign Robertson, but that won’t be happening now as he’ll be taking his talents to Chicago.

Robertson, 30 in April, was still being considered to be brought back by Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, even after signing southpaw Andrew Miller last week to a four year, $36 million deal. He spent most of his career up until last season setting up Mariano Rivera in the Yankees bullpen, before taking over closing duties himself in 2014.

Last season, he pitched to a 3.08 ERA with a .192 BAA, 1.22 WHIP and 2.68 FIP while recording 39 saves and striking out 96 batters in 63 appearances.

In a separate report, it looks like Jeff Samardzija will also be heading to the White Sox in a deal that is nearing completion with the Athletics. The White Sox are making a lot of noise this offseason.
