Zack Wheeler was the lone New York Mets player to file for arbitration and he will now make $1.9 million in 2018 after winning his case according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN. The Mets had offered $1.5 million.

Wheeler, 27, went 3-7 with a 5.21 ERA, 5.03 FIP and 1.58 WHIP in 86.1 innings for the Mets in 2017. He also had a career worst 10.1 H/9, 4.2 BB/9 and 1.6 HR/9.

The right-hander missed the last two months of the season with a stress reaction in his right arm. It was Wheeler’s first major league action since 2014.

Wheeler will battle for a back-end rotation spot in 2018 with Steven Matz, Matt Harvey, Robert Gsellman, Rafael Montero and Seth Lugo.

Last month the Mets settled with the rest of the eight arbitration eligible players.
