Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that Zack Wheeler has officially been promoted for his season debut tomorrow. Corey Oswalt was optioned back to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room for him.

This comes only hours of Oswalt’s first game with the club as he was called up earlier today while Brandon Nimmo was optioned to Triple-A.

However, Oswalt did not make his MLB debut in the game, despite appearing likely to pitch the ninth if the Mets did not take the lead. He was warming up in both the bottom of the eighth and top of the ninth.

So as Oswalt’s stint with the club doesn’t even last a day, Wheeler gets to make his first start of the year tomorrow against Miami and the “Fab-Five” will take at least one turn through the rotation.

With reports earlier today that Jason Vargas has not played catch since the surgery, it could be even longer.
