Basically when I asked this question I expected it would be a toss-up between Johan Santana’s No-Hitter on June 1, or R.A. Dickey’s incredible Cy Young worthy campaign. That’s exactly what we got. But there was a part of me that was wondering and hoping if anyone would bring up the 76 games that the Mets owned the first or second Wild Card spot from early April to late June. It was unexpected and kind of exciting watching all those late inning comebacks and two-out rallies. For a couple of months it felt so good to be a Met fan.

Here’s what the rest of us thought…

Jessica – The no-hitter. It was definitely the first thing that happened at Citi Field that started to make it feel like home. Before, Citi Field seemed like a major upgrade from Shea Stadium, a beautiful facility but not “home.” The no-hitter was the first moment that it felt like home.

Nick – The best moment by far was Johan Santana’s no-hitter on June 1. I will not forget my feelings and where I was siting on that night. These are feelings I never felt before and hope to see a few more in the future even a perfect game.

Mitch – Short and sweet – The best moment of 2012 was Johan Santana getting the Mets first no-hitter.

Connor – The best moment was clearly the no-hitter. It was definitely the high point of the season and not just a one-night thing. It was a symbolic thing that I think really got people believing in the team.

Clare – The popular answer would be June 1, 2012 – but I am going to go with R.A and his amazing season. Not only the pitching, but the book as well. It was a great read.

Barry – I agree that Dickey’s season was the highlight of 2012.

Joe S. – It has to be the Johan no-hitter.  It was one of the best moments in the history of team let alone the year and it was something I never thought would happen in my lifetime.

Rob S. – Without a doubt, Johan’s no-hitter. It took 50 years and 8020 games.

Jessep – Any time you have a moment that starts with “where were you when…” it’s logically the best moment of the season. If anybody says anything other than Johan’s No Hitter, I honestly feel bad for them. I think the sour taste of the 2nd half may spoil it for now, but as fans look back on that moment and remember where they were, and how they felt – it’s something that likely can or will only be matched by a World Series championship.

Gregg – Best moment of the 2012 Mets season, was on June 1st, when Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in franchise history. It’s a night I’ll never forget.

Ed – Three words – It.  Has.  Happened.(Anyone who was watching SNY on 6/1/12 knows exactly what those words represent.)

Dan – As I think back over the year, I can not remember another moment where I got as excited as I did when I heard Howie Rose call the final out of the first no-hitter in franchise history.

Satish – The mo-hitter. No question. Just speaking in terms of specific moments, seeing that no-hitter get thrown was just unreal.
