alderson-on-reyes

Do you hear me?
Do you care?
Do you hear me?
Do you care?

My lips are moving and the sound’s coming out.
The words are audible but I have my doubts,
That you realize what has been said.
You look at me as if you’re in a daze.
It’s like the feeling at the end of the page,
When you realize you don’t know what you just read

What are words for?
When no one listens anymore?
What are words for?
When no one listens?
What are words for?
When no one listens,
There’s no use talking at all

Missing Persons – Words Lyrics

I think it’s time for Sandy Alderson to stop doing interviews. I don’t intend to sound mean spirited – believe me that’s not me – but I don’t think Sandy realizes the negative effect he has on the Mets masses. All of his words now sound like a great big nauseating blur of hyperbole. There’s no meaning to what he says anymore. We’ve become weary of hearing the same rhetoric while living through three years of agonizingly depressing performance.

The next time Alderson gets in front of a microphone should be when he’s holding a press conference to announce the signing of a player who can actually help the team win more games. The next time he steps in front of a camera it should be to announce a trade for a player or players who can help the big team go from 74 wins to 84 wins in 2014.

There’s a great big disconnect between the fans – who mistrust ownership  – and a front office who continues to cover for them and have us believe that they have full autonomy.

Nobody believes Sandy Alderson has full autonomy and he needs to stop trying to convince us that he’s the one commanding the battalion. He’s more like the watch commander – after six hours his shift is over and he surrenders his side arm to the officer of the day and heads down to the mess hall to grab some chow. No weapon, no bullets, just a tin tray with a day-old biscuit, powdered eggs, and a generous scoop of canned sausage gravy… Then four hours of sleep in your rack – assuming you can tone out all the noise.

I was so excited when Sandy and his famous entourage flew in from the West Coast and into Flushing three years ago. It felt good… It felt awesome… It felt right..

Like all of you, my expectations were sky high…

They painted such a fresco that even Michelangelo would have been proud. And like many of his masterpieces I saw a majestic and glorious new Mets team descending from the heavens with flights of angels.

Now it feels like being dogged down in a hot sandy trench while a hail of fiery projectiles are flying inches above your head. Is it safe to climb out yet?

How did we get from all that blue-skied excitement to all this gray-skied gloom and doom? It’s simple… I give you Jeff Wilpon.

For all I know he could be the nicest guy in the world. But as the C.O.O. of this team he totally sucks. He makes it embarrassing for me to defend my team. And knowing that he’s the one calling the shots and not Sandy makes me resent the former Marine because he wants us to think otherwise – but we all know better.

Wright and jeff wilpon

Can any of you stand there and tell me with a straight face that Alderson was the driving force behind the David Wright extension?

Do you really believe that not trading Jose Reyes at the deadline and then letting him walk for nothing but a couple of comp picks was Sandy’s idea?

We’ve lived through three years of the most half-assed rebuilding process I’ve ever seen in my life…

I’m tired of hearing Alderson defend that…

Most of my resentment for the state of the team is reserved for ownership. But being that Sandy willfully signed on to be their messenger with eyes-wide-open, I have no problem aiming my criticism at him from time to time.

But for now.. For this juncture in time… I just wish Sandy Alderson would shut the hell up… Just shut up already…

If you’re gonna do something this offseason, just freaking do it… Or just go away…

Your message does not resonate anymore and the only thing that can fix that is ACTION.
