Best Start: During a week when every starter produced a quality start, ‘Big Sexy’ was the best. For a potential fifth starter and someone who everyone is quick to declare is destined for the bullpen when Zack Wheeler is healthy, Bartolo Colon is quietly putting together another solid season.

His last three starts, Colon has completed 18 innings and allowed just four earned runs. His ERA is a run lower than what he’s put up the past two seasons, seasons I think any reasonable Met fan would have been happy with.

Worst Start: For the second week in a row, this dubious distinction goes to a non-starter. The pitchers are doing their job, but there is no offense at all. Blame it on injuries, blame it on relying on their Triple-A replacements, blame it on slumping superstars.

Regardless, there are certain points where all that’s needed is a quality at-bat. That means a fly ball with a runner on third and making enough contact to score a run when an inning starts with runners on 1st and 2nd…or loading the bases with no one out and finding a way NOT TO SCORE.

This is every fan’s biggest fear – that the bats won’t give any support to an amazing pitching staff. I’m not saying we should have taken two of three from the Pirates, but when Steven Matz hits a triple and gets stranded at third…

Best of the Bullpen: It was great to see Hansel Robles pitch out of a jam he created on Friday night, but that’s something Jeurys Familia has done all season. While his 3.68 ERA is ugly, the 20 saves in 20 chances is what we all expected going into 2016.

Next Big Thing: The Pirates come to Citi Field and our rotation lines up well against a team that has recently owned the Orange and Blue. Maybe some home-cooking will do Thor and deGrom some good against a lineup that makes contact.
