In the fourth inning of Tuesday night’s game, Mets slugger Pete Alonso was drilled in the back by Braves pitcher Bryce Elder. Braves fans subsequently cheered as Alonso trotted to first base unbothered by the event.

Things were different in early June, though.

Alonso was hit in the wrist in June by Braves pitcher Charlie Morton. Alonso subsequently missed 10 days—eight games—and struggled for over a month after returning from the injured list stint.

Braves fans cheered after that happened, too.

After getting hit in the wrist, Morton apologized in person to Alonso and insisted it wasn’t intentional. Alonso showed appreciation that Morton was genuine in his apology and didn’t mean to throw at him.

Stay tuned for reactions from Alonso and teammates after the game.
