vic black

According to the Mets, Vic Black is heading to the DL and will be replaced by Daisuke Matsuzaka on the active roster.

Original Story

Vic Black has been one of the brightest stars for the Mets this season. He’s pitched to 2.20 ERA over 32.2 and has 31 strikeouts. With that great success comes an even greater relief that the stud righty should be ok after a few days rest.

Black had missed the last few games with a sore neck and went for an MRI on Wednesday. To everyones relief, the MRI showed a slightly herniated disc, an injury that should heal itself in a few days.

Black told Marc Carig of Newsday that “It shouldn’t be a big deal” and “I’ll be able to finish out the season.” According to that report, Black is being treated with anti-inflammatory medications. Black had noted that while he could probably pitch through it, it’s just uncomfortable to throw. “Outside of that, it’s a nice break for the arm. But I’d rather be out there.”
