Brodie Van Wagenen spoke with reporters on a conference call on Saturday and told reporters that the team is encouraging players to decide with their families what the next course of action for dealing with COVID-19 should be for each of them.

“We are encouraging our players to make the right decision for them, that this is bigger than Opening Day,” Van Wagenen said.

Van Wagenen went on to say, as can be heard on SNY, that Donovan Mitchell Sr. has been the only person in the organization tested for Coronavirus and said that there was a “sigh of relief” when his test came back negative on Friday. Van Wagenen added that they are “very pleased and happy for Donovan and his family.”

The Mets GM also was asked about the idea of paying low-level staffers and said that he “doesn’t have that information on hand.”
