With David Wright getting the day off, Juan Uribe filled in for the Captain and had a huge night at the plate. He finished the day going 3-for-4 with three RBI against his former team as the Mets crushed the Braves 7-2.

His first hit was a single in the fourth inning against Shelby Miller that ignited the Mets’ three run outburst. He later drove home Curtis Granderson on a bloop hit in the seventh, and he belted a two run double in the ninth inning to put the game completely out of reach.

Uribe is now batting .255  this season with 13 home runs and 41 RBI in 111 games. While he’s only hitting .220 since joining the Mets, his five home runs and 18 RBI during 109 at bats have provided the team with much needed production and depth.

It seems like every night there’s new hero who steps up with an incredible performance. Last night it was Uribe, but the Mets have also received heroic efforts from Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Kelly Johnson and Yoenis Cespedes. The Mets look like a team that can do no wrong right now, and they are absolutely a lock for the post season as their magic number drops to 16 games over the struggling Washington Nationals.
