The cavalry has arrived, or at least they’ll arrive soon.

Prior to Wednesday night’s game between the Mets and Dodgers, manager Buck Showalter ran through some injury updates for New York.

Second-year pitcher Tylor Megill will start a rehab assignment on Thursday with Binghamton. The plan for Megill is to make five appearances and join the Mets bullpen at the conclusion.

Megill was 4-2 with a 5.01 ERA before his injury, making nine starts over the first three months of the season.

Reliever Drew Smith is “not far behind” Megill. Smith has been sidelined since late July when he went to the injured list with a right lat strain. Smith began the season as one of the Mets most reliable pen arms, not allowing a run over his first 13 1/3 innings.

Smith slowed down at the end of June and allowed runs in six of last eight appearances.

Luis Guillorme will start a rehab assignment on Sunday. Guillorme is dealing with a groin injury suffered in mid-August. He was scheduled to miss at least three weeks with the strain.

The Mets are still waiting on results from Brett Baty‘s imaging. Baty has been withheld from the lineup the last few games with a thumb injury.
