Eduardo Escobar

According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post, the Twins have interest in Dillon Gee or Bartolo Colon, but the Mets don’t like shortstop Eduardo Escobar who they were looking to swap. Sherman says the Twins will move on and a trade is now unlikely.

Escobar batted .275 with 35 doubles, six home runs and 52 runs scored last season for the Twins in 465 plate appearances. He struck out 93 times and drew only 24 walks while posting a .315 on-base and a 102 OPS+.

A switch-hitter, Escobar posted a .654 OPS as a left-handed hitter and a .877 OPS as a right-handed hitter. The 25 year old infielder is a solid defender at shortstop and can also play second and third base though not very well.
