Speaking with reporters prior to the All-Star game, Troy Tulowitzki says he has no desire to be traded.

“I signed to be a Rockie and right now my job is to be a Rockie, so my job is to go out there every single day and help them to try to win games,” Tulowitzki said. “I’m not going to get caught up in it.” (Kevin Kernan, NY Post)

While he wants to stay in Colorado, he spoke very highly of the Mets excellent young pitching staff.

“The Mets pitching staff is phenomenal,’’ Tulowitzki told The Post at the All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park. “Pitching wins and if they keep that intact, they are going to be good for a long time.’’

Tulowitzki has been connected to New York for a long time, but his expensive contract and injury history have stood in the way of a potential deal. Tulowitzki is owed over $100 million, and he missed half of the season last year with a hip injury.

Even though he remains a risk, his production makes him exactly the type of player the Mets need to build around their dominating staff.

He is a career .300 hitter and has a .886 OPS during ten seasons with the Rockies. The five time All-Star is batting .313 this season with ten home runs and 49 RBI. His .480 slugging percentage currently leads all major league shortstops.

Most importantly, he’s been able to stay healthy this year, and he has avoided any trips to the disabled list.

“It’s been a long road, coming off the hip surgery,” Tulowitzki said before going 0-for-1 as his NL squad lost 6-3. “People had their doubts, and with some of my injury history, I’ve tried to do everything I possibly can to stay on the field, and so far it has worked out and hopefully I can say the same thing when the season is over.”
