travis d'Arnaud

The Mets offense has broken out in Cleveland and Philadelphia. The lone starter who had been late to the party was catcher, Travis d’Arnaud. He though had a productive series in Philadelphia and is showing signs of coming around.

“Everything is the same, but it’s nice to get some results, I guess,” d’Arnaud said. “I am just seeing the ball well and trying to keep things simple.” (NY Post)

Travis had a productive last three games, split between Cleveland and Philadelphia, going 4-for-12 with three doubles. He is a key to this offense and has at times through his short career shown to be quite the force at the plate when he has everything going. Batting primarily eighth, he has not seen too many great pitches to hit as of late. With no protection behind him, he will need to show he can steadily hit again before moving up in the lineup.

He enters tonight’s game in Atlanta with a team low .171 batting average among starters. His current slash line is not too pretty at .171/.275/.532. One thing i’ve noticed about d’Arnaud, it seems he has come to the plate with various batting stances in the early going. Possibly showing that he is trying to get comfortable at the plate and has yet to find that perfect stance. Getting d’Arnaud going would be huge for this offseason as they would be blazing on all cylinders.
