Approaching the buzzer, Jack Flaherty has been traded to the Dodgers, according to Jeff Passan. They also acquired Kevin Keirmaier from the Blue Jays for reliever Ryan Yarbrough.

Martin Perez has been dealt from the Pirates to the Padres, as well.

  • Eloy Jimenez heads to the Orioles in a big move (if Jimenez can stay healthy).
  • The Mets also traded Wilfredo Lara (No. 35 in Mike Mayer’s Top 50) for Huascar Brazoban. A great deal!
  • Reliever Tanner Banks is headed from the White Sox to the Phillies.

Continuing their roster turnover, the Marlins traded outfielder Bryan De La Cruz to Pittsburgh for prospects Jun-Seok Shim and Garret Forrester.

The Blue Jays continue their sell-off of short-term rentals, too, by dealing Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the Pirates.

The Mets made another move, adding reliever Tyler Zuber from the Rays in exchange for Paul Gervase, according to Anthony DiComo.

Also, the package the Padres gave up for Tanner Scott (and Bryan Hoeing) is finalized: Robby Snelling, Adam Mazur, Graham Pauley and Jay Beshears. All were Top 30 team prospects by MLB Pipeline to start the year, but all have seemingly regressed. Still, it’s a haul of prospects.

  • Tanner Scott was dealt to the Padres, according to Jeff Passan. AJ Preller can never be outdone.
  • The Twins made their first move of trade season, acquiring reliever Trevor Richards from the Blue Jays.

The Mets are on the board today! They’ve traded for Paul Blackburn, a righty starter, from the A’s. Individual piece to come.

Jeff Passan reports Andrew Chafin will be traded to the Texas Rangers. In the words of Mike Mayer, “he will never be a Met.”

Bob Nightengale also reports the White Sox traded Paul DeJong to the Royals. The Royals hold the last Wild Card spot currently and are making moves to try and solidify that.

Multiple reports say the Royals are getting right-hander reliever Lucas Erceg from the A’s. The 29-year-old has a 3.68 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings this year. He is under contract through the 2029 season.

Update: the Royals dealt three prospects, including Top 10 prospect Mason Barnett.

The Guardians acquired starter Alex Cobb from the Giants. Cobb hasn’t pitched this year while recovering from hip surgery, but he’s expected to be activated from the injured list soon.

Jameson Taillon has a 10-team no-trade list, but the Mets aren’t on it, according to Jon Heyman. Taillon has previously been involved in trade rumors. He has two years and $36 million left on his deal after this year.

Josh Bell was dealt from the Marlins to the Diamondbacks, who needed a first baseman after Christian Walker went down with an oblique injury Monday night. Bell was previously placed on waivers under the assumption he’d be dealt by the deadline. This is the third trade deadline in a row Bell has been traded. Peter Bendix remains active. Now, as for David Stearns…

Trevor Rogers was traded to the Baltimore Orioles, according to Jeff Passan. The Mets were reported to have interest in the lefty earlier in the day. Connor Norby, a top 10 prospect from the deep Orioles system who has dabbled in the majors this year, is heading back to Miami.

It’s been a slow day! But here are two updates:

  • The Mets traded Josh Walker, who was recently designated for assignment, to the Pirtaes for Nicolas Carreno, an 18-year-old currently pitching in the Dominican Summer League. He has 36 strikeouts in 21.2 innings this year.
  • The Cubs traded reliever Mark Leiter Jr. to the Yankees, where Leiter’s dad and uncle, Al, played.
  • The Red Sox acquired reliever Lucas Sims from the Reds.

The Mets have been “discussing” Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers, according to Andy Martino. The lefty has struggled with injuries and inconsistency since his stellar rookie year in 2021. He’s tossed 105.1 innings this year with a 4.53 ERA (4.42 FIP).

The Mets, for their part, acquired Jesse Winker and Ryne Stanek over the weekend as they look to improve their bench and bullpen. However, they have an active need for starting pitching and more bullpen help with Kodai Senga, Reed Garrett, Christian Scott, and Sean Reid-Foley all on the shelf.
