As the New York Mets end their stay in Port St. Lucie, starting pitchers Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey, as well as outfielder Michael Conforto are geared up for the regular season and are fired up.

“The sky’s the limit. We’re going to be really good,” Harvey said. “I think we’re going to shock a lot of people.”

Coming from a pitcher who has been at constant odds with his health and his recovery from multiple surgeries, this spring Harvey has a 4.50 earned-run average with 18 strikeouts, six walks, and a 1.35 WHIP, signifying that, at the very least, his health is back.

The righty said Monday that he is happy with how he was able to build off each start this spring. This is what he was most happy about:

“Continuously sticking to my mechanics and progressively working up to the number of pitches I did my last start,” he said. “Feeling from pitch one to pitch 90 that I was smooth and easy and getting the ball out and repeating my delivery which I’ve been very happy with.”

Conforto, who has progressed better than anyone thought he would, may return even sooner than the original projected date of May 1.

“I miss a week, 10 games, it’s not the end of the world,” Conforto said. “I’d rather miss 10 at the beginning than 50 in the second half.”

The long-term is a bit more important than right now. I can see it but just being a guy on this team I want to be there. I think it’s going to be good for me getting more at-bats and play some more innings in the field.”

Jacob deGrom also chimed in after his appearance in an intrasquad game this morning and is ready to get things rolling. Check out what he had to say below!

With Opening Day just about 70-ish hours away, this type of talk (while right on point for this time of year) is all extremely encouraging. Let’s Go Mets!
