Check out this article by Brian Mangan of The Read Zone who did some research and discovered that Chris Young is twice as likely to be benched after a good game than after a bad one.
Chris Young homered twice on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, which left many scratching their heads when he was riding the pine on Thursday. So Mangan looked into it and discovered that:
After the “bad games”, Young was started 57% of the time and benched 42% of the time.
However after the “good games”, Young was started 25% of the time and benched 75% of the time.
Why am I not shocked by this?

This isn’t really about Chris Young. I couldn’t care less about Chris Young right now… It’s about how often we read and hear things like this regarding Collins, and why so many of us question his decision-making process.
None of all these incredibly nonsensical things he says and does are by themselves something you’d hammer a manager for. But when you consider the totality of it all, it’s really both remarkable and inexplicable that he somehow managed to get a new contract extension to stay on as the manager of the Mets. That decision is just as baffling as Terry is himself.
