The Mets are on the verge of doing something that hasn’t been done in over one-hundred years.

ESPN’s Jayson Stark tweeted the following yesterday:

A tidbit from Sandwich Awards: Mets could be first team to go thru season & not win a series vs team in own league since 1909 Senators!

That’s pretty hard to do believe.

I looked it up and even the 1962 Mets who lost a record 120 games in their inaugural season, won three road series in their division. Albeit one of them was a one game series against the Cubbies, but still…

The Mets have six more chances to win a road series. including this weekend against the Pirates.

The other remaining opponents include the Braves, Cubs, Nationals, Phillies and Marlins.

Did you know…

The 1962 Mets were shutout only six times that season.

The 2010 Mets have already been shutout ten times.
