The team announced that outfielder Lucas Duda will return to the Mets in time for Sunday’s series finale against the Houston Astros.

Duda has been laboring at Triple-A Buffalo where he has hit .260 with three homers and eight RBIs in 96 at-bats since being optioned there on July 24th after suffering through a horrendous slump.

Terry Collins said he expects Duda to play primarily in left field, but will also get some reps at first base to spell Ike Davis, for the remainder of the season.

Before being demoted, Duda was mired in a 2-22 slump, but with the Mets desperate for power, they decided to re-call him in the hope that he’ll provide some punch to an anemic lineup.

The Mets will announce a corresponding move before tomorrow’s game. I think Jordany Valdespin could be the one to go, but that’s just a guess.
