Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reported this morning that several teams have called the New York Mets with serious interest in dealing for reliever Bobby Parnell.
Parnell has bounced back after struggling last season and has mostly pitched in the 6-8 innings this season after a failed attempt at closing in 2011. He currently has 2.84 ERA in 12 2/3 innings pitched with a 1.263 WHIP. He has an impressive 16 strikeouts against just two walks this season.
The likelihood that Parnell gets dealt are pretty slim unless the Mets get blown away. He is currently the most reliable reliever in an otherwise lackluster pen.
There may even be a chance that Parnell will get some save opportunities if Frank Francisco and Jon Rauch don’t get themselves into a good groove soon.
