New York Mets likely Opening Day starter Noah Syndergaard had his stuff working on Thursday afternoon when he struck out seven consecutive Washington Nationals to end his outing.
Syndergaard allowed two runners and a stolen base in the first inning but got Matt Adams to groundout to end the threat.
Thor allowed a single and walk to start the second inning before striking out the next three batters to finish off the frame.
The hard throwing righty was flat-out dominant in the third, striking out Trea Turner, Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon in order to give him six straight punch outs.
Syndergaard struck out Adams to start the fourth inning for his seventh consecutive and was taken out after 63 pitches.
The success came with dialed down velocity as Syndergaard was sitting mostly 94-98 MPH with his fastball though he did ramp it up to 101 when necessary.
He was clearly making an effort to work on his offspeed stuff in his third spring start. Should note that he did allow two stolen bases on his way to throwing his spring ERA to 1.08.
